Water Preservation and Respect: Tatavaka Association's DROPS project & the island of Zlarin
After the Plastic-Free Island project, which set a high bar of success for other projects in sustainability, but also showed by example and application what combined motivation can do, Zlarin now brings another project: the DROPS.
The Tatavaka Association has conducted a transdisciplinary workshop "Where does it flow" within the DROPS project. DROPS stands for Design And Re-engagement of Public Water Sources. The workshop took place from the 4th to the 8th of October in 2023. on the Island of Zlarin.
During the workshop, participants had the opportunity to take part in educational walks about the vegetation and traditional arquitecture of Zlarin, enjoy expert lectures on urbanism, biodiversity and cultural landscape.
The revaluation of water systems and the water basin on the island through the involvement of the community is the main goal of the project. The exchange of knowledge of all involved, both local residents and participants from different fields (architecture, geography, biology, anthropology, etc.) through interaction during workshops and lectures is the key to the success of such events. The topics of the workshops are an excellent follow-up to Small Giants Water, which also puts water resources and their future into its main focus.
We look forward to the further activities of the Tatavaka Association planned for 2024 on the island of Zlarin.
