Applied sustainability paired with attractive design: New public fountains to be installed in Šibenik

In addition to the Small Giants Water refill network, a network of public fountains is also being developed in the city of Šibenik. The City Council has approved a new design of public fountains. They have been envisioned and designed by Ante Filipović Grčić, a local product designer. The modern and functional solution is part of the project "Prevention, remediation and education on the consequences of climate change", financed by the Stete fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency. It includes the activities such as creating a plan for draught protection and water management in agriculture for the City of Šibenik, as well as strengthening "green" infrastructure.

A fountain prototype elaboration is expected and then the installation of 10 such fountains in frequent locations throughout the city.

"The fountain has three ways to drink and fill water, and it meets the highest hygiene standards. This is a highly ecologically efficient product, and its design makes in a neutral blend with the city streets. The same high standards of hygiene are applied to the drinking of pets, designing a special supply of fresh and clean water just for them." - clarified by the city spokesman.

The design itself is a subtle reminder of the times in Šibenik when our ancestors took care of the thirst of animals and installed stone water containers in Kalelarga, called "Amor d'cani".

Each location of the public fountain will be marked on the Small Giants Water map, as well as the fountains that are already in operation in the rest of the Šibenik-Knin County.
